Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has praised Quetta Gladiators’ experienced pacer Mohammad Amir for mentally dominating Babar Azam during their recent encounter. Akhtar expressed his delight at witnessing Amir’s impressive bowling after a long time.
Speaking about the match, Shoaib Akhtar said Babar Azam struggled to properly judge the ball, often getting hit either on the helmet or the body. He emphasized that Amir had complete mental control over Babar, especially when the crowd around the stadium was passionately chanting “Babar, Babar,” while Amir quietly focused on his craft.
The former pacer suggested that Babar should have taken more time to settle in, considering the challenging pitch conditions. Akhtar added that even any other top Pakistani batter would have found it difficult to handle Amir’s bowling that day.
Shoaib Akhtar further pointed out that Babar Azam tends to struggle when the ball moves even slightly off the surface. He criticized Peshawar Zalmi, saying that their team could not even chase a modest target under such intense bowling pressure.
