
Seoul— Pakistan’s star javelin thrower and Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem has once again made the nation proud by clinching the gold medal at the Asian Athletics Championship 2025.
In a thrilling final, Arshad outshone his competitors with a phenomenal last throw of 86.40 meters, securing the top podium spot. His earlier throws included 75.64m, 76.80m, 85.57m, and 83.99m, placing him at the top after the fourth round. India’s Sachin Yadav finished in second place.
Pakistan’s Yasir Sultan also performed impressively, throwing 75.50m at his best and qualifying for the final with a strong showing in the earlier rounds. Arshad had previously secured his spot in the final with a qualifying throw of 86.34 meters.
National Leaders Praise Arshad Nadeem
President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated Arshad, saying he has once again illuminated Pakistan’s name through his remarkable performance. “The entire nation is proud of Arshad’s achievements,” he stated.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded Arshad’s dedication and success, calling him a source of inspiration for youth and a symbol of national pride. “He continues to raise the nation’s flag high,” said the PM.
Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz also extended warm congratulations, stating, “With Arshad’s throw, the hopes and prayers of the nation soared high.” She praised both Arshad and Yasir Sultan, calling them role models for Pakistan’s youth and affirming her government’s commitment to sports development.
Federal Interior Minister and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi hailed Arshad’s win as a result of hard work and discipline. “He is a hero of the nation and deserves every bit of this glory,” he said, also congratulating Arshad’s family and coach.
WAPDA Celebrates
WAPDA Chairman Lt. Gen. Sajjad Ghani (Retd.) expressed pride in Arshad, highlighting his affiliation with the WAPDA Sports Board. “WAPDA athletes continue to elevate Pakistan on the global stage,” he remarked.
