Former Pakistan captain Younis Khan praised Mohammad Amir for using his experience to dismiss Babar Azam during Quetta Gladiators’ match against Peshawar Zalmi.
Speaking on a private television channel, Younis Khan applauded the Quetta Gladiators’ bowling unit for their outstanding performance. He pointed out how effectively Faheem Ashraf was utilized against Saim Ayub and how Mohammad Amir delivered a masterclass in bowling against Peshawar.
The legendary former batter highlighted that during Amir’s first over against Babar Azam, he deliberately did not attempt to get him out leg-before-wicket (LBW). Younis explained that Amir bowled a bouncer first and then delivered a ball in the corridor of uncertainty, forcing Babar to play defensively without attempting a direct wicket-taking ball.
Younis further elaborated that when Amir returned for his second over, he observed that Babar had settled into his zone and was looking to play his shots. Sensing the opportunity, Amir bowled an inswinger, successfully dismissing Babar Azam.
Younis Khan’s analysis of Mohammad Amir’s strategy against Babar Azam was truly insightful. Amir’s ability to adapt and use his experience was commendable. The way he lured Babar into a defensive mindset before striking was brilliant. It’s fascinating how small tactical changes can make such a big difference. Do you think Amir’s approach can be a blueprint for young bowlers in similar situations?
