In a move that has raised eyebrows, India has blocked former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube channel across the country. The decision comes in the wake of a false flag operation in Indian-occupied Kashmir, with Indian authorities reportedly under pressure following the incident.
According to Indian media reports, the Ministry of Home Affairs recommended the action, resulting in a ban on a total of 16 Pakistani YouTube channels. These channels were accused of spreading misinformation and false narratives, particularly after the Pahalgam incident. Collectively, these channels boast a subscriber base of approximately 63 million.
Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube channel, with more than 3.5 million followers worldwide, is popular for his candid commentary on cricket and social issues. His direct and unapologetic views have made him a prominent figure in the world of sports commentary.
The blocking of Shoaib Akhtar’s channel has sparked concerns about the shrinking space for free speech and dissent in India. Critics argue that the move reflects India’s intolerance toward differing viewpoints, despite its claims of being a democratic and free society. This latest action underscores India’s increasing efforts to silence voices of opposition and restrict the flow of alternative perspectives.
