The Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team has successfully qualified for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, marking their sixth appearance in the prestigious tournament. The qualification came after an impressive performance in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers, held in Lahore from April 9 to 19, 2025.
The qualifiers featured six teams—Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, Thailand, Scotland, and Ireland—competing in a single round-robin format. Under the leadership of fast bowler Fatima Sana, Pakistan remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, winning all their matches.
While Bangladesh and the West Indies also secured three wins each, it was Bangladesh who joined Pakistan in qualification thanks to a superior net run rate, thus earning their second appearance in a Women’s World Cup.
The final list of teams for the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, scheduled from September 29 to October 26, 2025, in India, includes defending champions Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, England, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and host India.
Recently, PCB Chairman Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi met with the women’s team and coaching staff to congratulate them on their stellar performance during the qualifiers. He expressed hope for a strong performance in the main tournament but reiterated the board’s stance that the Pakistan women’s team will not travel to India, in line with current policy and mutual agreement.
The 13th edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup will be hosted in India. The tournament first began in 1975 in England, making it one of the oldest running women’s international tournaments.
Pakistan’s women made their debut in 1997, also in India, where they finished last out of eleven teams. Their best performance came in 2009, where they finished fifth in the Australia-hosted edition. However, in the 2013, 2017, and 2022 editions, Pakistan ended up eighth among the competing teams.
