
Rawalpindi: Peshawar Zalmi secured their first victory of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 in emphatic fashion, defeating Multan Sultans by 120 runs in the ninth match of the tournament, held in Rawalpindi.
Zalmi captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bat first. The decision proved fruitful as Peshawar Zalmi posted a massive total of 227 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. Tom Kohler-Cadmore led the charge with a fluent 52, while Mohammad Haris contributed a quickfire 45. Supporting roles came from Abdul Samad (40), Hussain Talat (37), and Mitchell Owen (34). However, Zalmi’s star openers Babar Azam and Saim Ayub could only manage 2 runs each.
For Multan Sultans, the bowling highlights included David Willey, Michael Bracewell, and Ubaid Shah, who each took 2 wickets, while Iftikhar Ahmed claimed one.
In reply, Multan Sultans were bowled out for just 107 runs, falling well short of the 228-run target. Usman Khan top-scored with 44, and Shai Hope chipped in with 20, but the rest of the batting lineup failed to offer resistance.
Peshawar Zalmi’s bowling attack was ruthless. Ali Raza starred with 4 wickets, while Aarif Yaqoob claimed 3 crucial dismissals, dismantling Multan’s chase with ease.
This victory marked a strong comeback for Peshawar Zalmi, who had lost their first two matches of the season. On the other hand, Multan Sultans suffered their third consecutive defeat, raising concerns about their form in PSL 10.
