Layyah: The District Administration of Layyah, in partnership with the Quaid-e-Azam Academy, successfully held a vibrant and engaging youth football tournament, featuring competitions across three age groups: Under 12, Under 14, and Under 16. The tournament was a key initiative aimed at promoting physical activity, sportsmanship, and youth engagement through football.
The event was honored by the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Shahid Malik, who highlighted the significance of sports in shaping the youth, promoting discipline, and building healthy habits. He praised the young participants for their enthusiasm and stressed the importance of continuing to support grassroots sports initiatives.
Prominent figures such as Yasser Arafat, vice president of the District Bar Layyah; Sanobr Gull Khan; and the district sports officer also attended the event, adding to its community importance and showing strong local support for youth development through sports.
The final match proved to be the tournament’s highlight—a fiercely contested battle between Layyah Lions and Layyah Eagles. In a close and thrilling match, the Layyah Eagles emerged victorious with a 1-0 win, showcasing tactical gameplay and remarkable teamwork. The game drew an enthusiastic crowd, bringing the community together to cheer for the budding talents.
Following the final, Shahid Malik awarded trophies and prizes to both the winning and runner-up teams. He commended all players for their effort, spirit, and discipline throughout the tournament and encouraged them to keep pursuing excellence in sports and education alike.
More than just a competition, the tournament served as a platform to foster community unity, develop young talent, and reinforce the importance of youth involvement in positive extracurricular activities. It also helped build a culture of appreciation for sports and physical wellness across Layyah.
