Islamabad United continued their impressive form in HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, securing a commanding 47-run victory over Multan Sultans in the seventh match of the tournament, held in Rawalpindi.
Due to a wet outfield caused by rain, the toss was delayed before Multan Sultans won it and opted to bowl first. However, Islamabad United capitalized on the conditions and posted a formidable total of 202/6 in their 20 overs.
Sahibzada Farhan was once again in excellent touch, scoring 53 runs, while Colin Munro narrowly missed his half-century with a fluent 48-run knock. Contributions from Haider Ali (33) and Jason Holder (32) helped United reach a challenging total. Chris Jordan was the pick of the bowlers for Multan, claiming 2 wickets.
In response, the Multan Sultans struggled to gain momentum in their chase of 203. Despite Mohammad Rizwan scoring 38 runs, Usman Khan adding 31, and Iftikhar Ahmed contributing 32, the batting lineup failed to withstand Islamabad’s bowling attack and was bowled out for 155 in the 19th over.
Jason Holder starred with the ball as well, taking 4 wickets, while Imad Wasim chipped in with 2 crucial wickets, further denting Multan’s hopes.
With this win, Islamabad United remain unbeaten in the tournament, sitting at the top of the points table with 6 points from three matches. In contrast, the Multan Sultans are yet to register a win, having lost both of their opening games.
