Lahore Qalandars’ experienced spinner Asif Afridi has revealed a rather unique personal goal for the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 — to deliver the most dot balls in the tournament.
In a recent media interaction ahead of the clash against Karachi Kings, Afridi said, “My target is different from others. I want to be the bowler with the most dot balls this season. That’s my aim.”
Speaking about his approach to T20 cricket, the 38-year-old emphasized the importance of ball-by-ball planning rather than focusing on the whole spell. “In T20s, you have to think about each delivery. That mindset really helps a bowler. I always try to bowl dot balls, and that creates pressure on the batters,” he explained.
Afridi, who returned recently from an eye injury, admitted he still experiences discomfort but continues to play out of passion and love for the game. “I’m still in pain due to the eye injury, but when you love the game as much as I do, the pain doesn’t matter,” he said.
He also spoke about his experience with the Lahore Qalandars franchise, calling it “a true family environment.” Afridi expressed confidence ahead of their upcoming match against Karachi Kings, stating that the team has gained momentum after their recent victory and will look to carry it forward.
“We’ll give Karachi Kings a tough time. Once the match begins, all personal concerns are left behind — the focus is entirely on helping the team win. I don’t think about age, because if you’re putting in the effort on the field, age doesn’t matter,” he added.
