
Rawalpindi: In the fifth match of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, Islamabad United delivered a commanding performance, defeating Peshawar Zalmi by a massive 102-run margin at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Islamabad United’s captain Shadab Khan won the toss and opted to bat first. The decision paid off handsomely as Islamabad posted a massive total of 243 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
The star of the show was Sahibzada Farhan, who played a sensational knock of 106 runs off just 49 balls, including 13 fours and 4 sixes. His century set the tone for the innings. Supporting contributions came from Colin Munro with 40 runs and Agha Salman, who added 30 runs to the total.
From the bowling side of Peshawar Zalmi, Alzarri Joseph and Hussain Talat took two wickets each, but they struggled to contain the onslaught.
Chasing a daunting target of 244, Peshawar Zalmi’s batting collapsed under pressure. The team was bowled out for 141 runs in 19 overs. Mohammad Haris was the lone warrior for Zalmi, scoring a valiant 87 runs, but received little support from the other batters.
Captain Babar Azam managed only 1 run, Saim Ayub scored 6, and Hussain Talat added 13 runs. The rest of the batting lineup fell cheaply.
Islamabad United’s bowlers delivered a disciplined and lethal performance. Imad Wasim took 3 wickets, while Shadab Khan and Ben Dwarshuis picked up 2 wickets each, sealing a dominant win for their side.
This was the second match for both teams in the tournament. With this victory, Islamabad United moves to 4 points, while Peshawar Zalmi remains winless, having previously lost to Quetta Gladiators in their opening match.
