Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli has added yet another remarkable record to his name in T20 cricket, becoming the first Indian batter to reach 100 half-centuries in the format. Kohli achieved this feat during an IPL 2025 match while representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Rajasthan Royals.
In the match, the 36-year-old delivered a brilliant unbeaten knock of 62 runs off 45 balls, leading his side to a dominant 9-wicket victory. This innings marked Kohli’s 100th T20 fifty, a historic milestone that places him among the elite few in world cricket.
Kohli is now only the second player globally to score 100 or more T20 half-centuries, following Australia’s David Warner, who tops the chart with 108 fifties. Kohli surpassed several modern-day greats in the process, including Pakistan’s Babar Azam (90 half-centuries), Chris Gayle (88), and Jos Buttler of England (78).
Among Indian players, Rohit Sharma trails Kohli with 78 fifties in T20 cricket.
Apart from this new record, Kohli continues to dominate the IPL record books. He is the leading run-scorer in IPL history and also became the first batter to hit 1,000 boundaries (combined fours and sixes) in the league. Kohli has hit the most fours in IPL history and stands third in six-hitting, behind Chris Gayle (357) and Rohit Sharma (282).
