Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli has etched his name into the history books once again, becoming the first player ever to hit 1,000 boundaries in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Kohli achieved this remarkable feat during a match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals on Thursday.
Batting at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Kohli reached the milestone in the fourth over of the innings by smashing a six off Axar Patel. His tally now includes 721 fours and 280 sixes, taking his total IPL boundary count to 1,001.
Kohli has now played 257 IPL matches across all 18 seasons of the tournament, making him one of only four players to appear in every edition since its inception in 2008.
He is already the leading run-scorer in IPL history with 8,190 runs to his name. When it comes to boundaries, Kohli leads the chart for most fours, while his six-hitting ability places him third on the all-time list behind Chris Gayle (357 sixes) and Rohit Sharma (282 sixes).
This latest achievement adds yet another milestone to Virat Kohli’s illustrious career, further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest T20 batters in IPL and world cricket.
