
Karachi: Pakistan’s rising squash star Noor Zaman has claimed the title in the U23 World Squash Championship Men’s Event, securing a remarkable victory in the final held in Karachi. Noor defeated Egypt’s Karim Al-Torky in a thrilling five-set match, making a sensational comeback after losing the first two games.
The match showcased Noor’s resilience and determination, as he turned around a 0-2 deficit to win 3-2 and lift the championship trophy. His impressive performance drew praise from across the nation.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Corps Commander Lieutenant General Owais Dastgir and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. Noor Zaman received a cash prize of $5,250, while runner-up Karim Al-Torky was awarded $3,450. The total prize pool for the championship was $60,000.
Speaking to the media after his triumph, Noor Zaman shared his thoughts on the intense final. “When I was down two games, I told myself to stay focused and fight until the end. I just wanted to prove the hard work I’ve put in. Right now, I feel extremely calm and satisfied,” he said.
The President and Prime Minister of Pakistan extended their congratulations to Noor Zaman for his incredible achievement. Interior Minister and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also praised Noor, stating that young talents like him are valuable assets to the country.
