ISLAMABAD: The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to begin tomorrow, and ahead of the highly anticipated tournament, captains from all six franchises came together for a joint press conference in Islamabad.
Multan Sultans’ skipper Mohammad Rizwan spoke about the difference between international and league cricket. He emphasized that pressure in international cricket is different, and both the captain and selectors hold their own authority. Reflecting on recent performances, Rizwan admitted that the team couldn’t meet fans’ expectations and said, “People in Pakistan love cricket, and we didn’t play the way our supporters hoped.”
Shadab Khan, representing Islamabad United, acknowledged their initial challenges with the Pindi Stadium pitch but assured fans of better cricket this season. “We didn’t understand the nature of the Pindi pitch at first, but this year, fans will see more competitive matches and new things,” he said.
Quetta Gladiators captain Saud Shakeel addressed his team’s recent struggles. “Our performance hasn’t been great in the past few seasons, but we’ve worked hard to learn from our mistakes,” he said, expressing optimism about a stronger showing in PSL 10.
Shaheen Shah Afridi, captain of Lahore Qalandars, said he was especially excited about the young talent participating in this season. “This PSL is a great opportunity to see emerging stars step up,” he added.
Karachi Kings were represented by Hasan Ali in place of David Warner. He noted that the franchise had made strategic changes to their team combination in preparation for the season.
Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam voiced confidence about his team’s chances. “We’re hopeful and fully prepared to make it to the final this year,” he stated.
The PSL 10 opener is scheduled for tomorrow at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, where defending champions Lahore Qalandars will face Islamabad United in what promises to be an electrifying clash.
