LONDON: The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has officially appointed young batter Harry Brook as the new captain of England’s white-ball cricket teams.
The decision comes after former captain Jos Buttler stepped down from his role following England’s disappointing performance in the ICC Champions Trophy. With Buttler’s resignation, the ECB has placed its trust in the 26-year-old rising star to lead both the ODI and T20 squads.
Expressing his delight over the appointment, Brook said, “It’s truly an honor to be named captain of England’s white-ball side. Ever since I was a kid playing cricket, it’s been my dream to not only represent England but also to one day lead the team. Getting this opportunity now means a lot to me.”
Harry Brook has quickly risen through the ranks in international cricket, known for his aggressive batting style and calm presence under pressure. His leadership will now be tested in the upcoming white-ball series against the West Indies at the end of May, which includes three T20 Internationals and three One-Day Internationals.
