
LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has officially requested the deployment of Pakistan Army and Rangers personnel to ensure foolproof security during the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), set to take place from April 11 to May 18 in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
According to the department, security forces have been sought to assist local police in maintaining law and order during the high-profile tournament. For each city, one wing of Rangers and two companies of the Pakistan Army have been requested to provide support throughout the duration of the event.
In addition, the services of Special Services Group (SSG) commandos and Army Aviation helicopters have also been requested for enhanced aerial surveillance and rapid response capabilities. The security arrangements are scheduled to be in place from April 6 to May 19.
The PSL 10 will host both local and international cricketers, along with match officials and other foreign dignitaries, making it a high-security event. The Home Department highlighted the importance of strict security measures not just at match venues but also at team accommodations and during their travel within the host cities.
A formal request for the deployment of the Army and Rangers has been submitted to the Federal Ministry of Interior by the Punjab Home Department.
