
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the prize money for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) Final scheduled between South Africa and Australia from June 11 at Lord’s Cricket Ground.
Both teams have already announced their squads for the much-anticipated final. The ICC revealed that the prize money for the champion team has been doubled compared to the last two editions.
The winning side will receive a whopping $3.6 million, up from $1.6 million awarded in the 2021 and 2023 editions. The runner-up team will also be rewarded with $2.16 million.
The ICC chairman expressed his excitement on Twitter, stating, “We are thrilled to announce a record prize fund for the WTC final between South Africa and Australia. The champions will take home $3.6 million, while the runners-up will receive $2.16 million.”
This announcement marks a significant boost in financial rewards for Test cricket, underscoring the growing importance of the championship in the international cricket calendar.
