Fakhar Zaman, the aggressive opening batsman of Lahore Qalandars, has emphasized the need for green pitches in domestic cricket to provide more benefit to bowlers and improve the overall quality of the game.
Speaking to the media, Fakhar said that the type of pitches being used in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will benefit the players. He added that there should be a balance between bat and ball, with pitches offering some assistance to bowlers as well. Despite challenging conditions, teams are still managing to score over 170 runs, which, according to Fakhar, is a positive sign.
Regarding his franchise’s performance, Fakhar shared that Lahore Qalandars have won 3 matches and lost 3, but he is content with the direction the team is heading in. He also praised his team for playing cohesively, adding that they are giving tough competition to the opposition. Fakhar highlighted the talent of Rashid Hussain, the promising spinner, saying that he has a bright future ahead.
Fakhar also pointed out the benefits of playing matches at a single venue, as it allows players to adapt to the conditions. He mentioned that the current weather is suitable for the PSL and that people have exaggerated the issue of heat.
On a personal note, Fakhar spoke highly of his teammate, Mohammad Amir, calling him a skilled bowler who is capable of performing well in any conditions. He concluded by stressing that it is not just one player but the entire team working together that makes the difference in building a winning side.
