The Indian Premier League (IPL) is often in the spotlight for its massive financial scale, attracting some of the biggest cricket stars from around the world. While player salaries are frequently discussed on social media and in sports circles, umpire earnings usually remain under the radar.
However, a recent report by India Today has shed light on the match fees received by umpires in IPL 2025.
According to the report, on-field umpires earn ₹300,000 (Indian Rupees) per match during IPL 2025. Meanwhile, the fourth umpire receives ₹200,000 for each match. This revelation highlights the lucrative opportunities available not just for players but also for match officials in the world’s richest T20 league.
In comparison, players participating in an IPL match — whether part of the playing XI or as substitutes — earn an additional ₹750,000 per match, which is separate from the salaries they receive under their contracts with their respective franchises.
It is important to note that the final of the ongoing IPL 2025 season is scheduled to be held on May 25 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, adding even more excitement as the tournament approaches its climax.
