New Delhi: Following the tragic incident at the tourist site in Pahalgam, Indian-occupied Kashmir, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a significant statement regarding future cricketing ties with Pakistan.
According to Indian media reports, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla announced the board’s decision on playing bilateral cricket with Pakistan. He stated, “We will not play any bilateral series with Pakistan in the foreseeable future.”
Rajeev Shukla further expressed condolences for the victims and condemned the attack, emphasizing that the BCCI would continue to follow the Indian government’s stance on Pakistan. “Our policy has been clear — we don’t engage in bilateral cricket with Pakistan because of government directives, and this will remain unchanged,” he said.
He clarified that India’s participation against Pakistan only occurs during International Cricket Council (ICC) events due to obligations set by the global governing body. “When it comes to ICC events, we participate because of the tournament commitments. The ICC is aware of the situation and will respond accordingly,” he added.
