Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has raised his voice against India’s premature and baseless accusations following the recent attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian-occupied Kashmir.
In his statement, Afridi criticized India for blaming Pakistan without evidence, calling it a “regrettable and irresponsible move.” He stressed that such allegations only escalate tensions and distract from the real issues at hand.
Afridi highlighted that Pakistan itself has long been a victim of terrorism, and any loss of innocent lives—whether in Kashmir or Pakistan—is deeply saddening. He expressed condolences for the victims and emphasized the need for serious reflection rather than blame games.
The former captain urged both nations to pursue diplomatic dialogue instead of hostility, noting that conflict yields no real solutions. He also stated that sports, particularly cricket, should not fall prey to politics, and he called for peace and cooperation in the region.
