
Layyah: The Blind Cricket Team of Layyah, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Ameera Baydar and organized by the Sports Department and District Administration, showcased an outstanding performance in the first match of a three-match series against the Karachi Young Stars Blind Cricket Team. The exciting clash took place at the Government Degree College cricket ground.
Layyah’s captain Zia-ul-Rehman won the toss and chose to bat first, leading his team to a formidable total of 223 runs for 4 wickets in the designated 12 overs. The batting lineup impressed with Muhammad Rafiq scoring 45 runs, while Arsalan and Zia-ul-Rehman contributed 30 runs each. Zahid Mahmood added to the total with a brilliant knock of 32 runs.
In response, Karachi started off strong, reaching 45 runs in the first two overs, but faltered under pressure and were restricted to 183 runs for 9 wickets by the end of their 12 overs, handing Layyah a 40-run victory. Layyah’s fielding efforts were exceptional, with Mobeen playing a key role, while Arsalan claimed a crucial wicket.
In the second match, Layyah continued their dominance, once again choosing to bat and posting a massive total of 249 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets in 10 overs. Captain Zia-ul-Rehman Bajwa led from the front with an explosive 85-run knock, while Arsalan followed up his earlier performance with an impressive 60 runs. Their partnership was the highlight of the match, keeping Karachi’s bowlers under pressure throughout.
Karachi, while starting similarly with 45 runs in two overs, lost two quick wickets before the match was halted and scheduled to resume tomorrow at 8 AM. The third match is also set to begin at 10 AM. If Layyah wins the second match, they will take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
