
Lahore: Pakistan women’s cricket team spinner Saadia Iqbal has been honored by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as she was officially included in the ICC Women’s T20I Team of the Year 2024.
The left-arm spinner received her ICC cap during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers, recognizing her outstanding performances throughout the year. The cap was presented by Pakistan’s spin bowling coach, Abdur Rehman, in a proud moment witnessed by teammates, coaches, and team management.
Former Pakistan women’s team captain Bismah Maroof also congratulated Saadia and personally handed over the commemorative cap to her, celebrating the achievement and expressing best wishes for her future.
Hailing from Faisalabad, Saadia Iqbal made her international debut in 2019 and has since become a key bowler in Pakistan’s limited-overs setup. She has so far represented Pakistan in 47 T20I matches, claiming 59 wickets with her precise and economical bowling.
Apart from her cricketing accomplishments, Saadia holds a BS Honors degree in Sports Sciences, showcasing her dedication to both academics and sports.
This recognition marks a significant milestone not only for Saadia Iqbal but also for Pakistani women’s cricket, highlighting the growing impact of Pakistani players on the global stage.
