In a special Eid video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Pakistan’s star cricketers, including Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, and Naseem Shah, had an engaging discussion with former pacer Wahab Riaz. During the conversation, Wahab asked the players about the toughest opponents they have faced in their careers.
Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan was the first to respond, recalling the early days of his international career. He admitted that Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood was the most challenging bowler he faced when he started playing at the highest level. However, he added that in recent times, India’s premier fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, has been the most difficult bowler for him to tackle.
“When I began my international career, I found Josh Hazlewood the most difficult bowler. But now, I think Jasprit Bumrah is the toughest bowler to face,” Rizwan stated.
Opening batter Fakhar Zaman highlighted that the difficulty of facing a bowler depends on conditions. However, he acknowledged that England’s speedster Jofra Archer is the most challenging bowler to face with the new ball.
“I can only talk about specific conditions, but for me, Jofra Archer has been the most difficult bowler to play with the new ball,” Fakhar said.
Unlike his teammates, young fast bowler Naseem Shah chose a batter instead of a bowler when asked about his toughest opponent. According to him, England’s explosive batter Jos Buttler is the most difficult to bowl to in white-ball cricket.
“I believe that in recent times, Jos Buttler has been the most challenging batter to bowl to in white-ball cricket,” Naseem remarked.
