London: Irish footballer Megan Campbell has made history by setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest throw-in in women’s football.
The 31-year-old, who plays for London City Lionesses, threw the ball an impressive 37.55 meters, surpassing the previous record of 35 meters by more than two meters. Campbell achieved this feat at her club’s training ground in Kent, where a mannequin was positioned at the previous record distance as a target to beat.
Campbell, known for her powerful overhead throws, expressed her excitement, calling the achievement “very special and incredible.” She added, “I hope this inspires other players to aim higher and break this record in the future.”
She revealed that her strength in throw-ins began early in her career while training with boys’ teams, where her throws consistently outdistanced her teammates.
In a separate Guinness World Record achievement, Cypriot dancer Dinos Kantidis recently broke the record for the most glasses balanced on the head by carrying 468 glasses, surpassing the previous record of 319, during a public event organized by Aradippou Municipality.
