As tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate, the ripple effects are now being felt in the world of cricket. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has seen multiple matches suspended, causing significant financial damage to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
According to media reports, each canceled IPL match could result in an estimated loss of ₹125 crore (INR) for the BCCI. This includes losses from TV broadcasting rights, sponsorships, and ticket sales. So far, with four matches already called off, the total loss is believed to have surpassed ₹500 crore.
If the tournament is completely cancelled, the BCCI could reportedly face a staggering loss exceeding ₹3,000 crore.
Franchise owners are said to be deeply concerned over the mounting financial damage, while sponsors are reportedly reconsidering their agreements and may pull out from existing contracts.
This turmoil follows a recent IPL match that was abruptly stopped mid-game, with fans being asked to leave the stadium, sparking fear and confusion among players and spectators alike.
India is facing increasing domestic and international pressure following its aggressive stance toward Pakistan, and the instability is now disrupting the cricketing calendar in both countries.
