
Lahore: Quetta Gladiators secured a thrilling 2-wicket victory over Islamabad United in Match 23 of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Led by Saud Shakeel, Quetta opted to field first after winning the toss. Islamabad United, captained by Salman Ali Agha, posted a total of 157/9 in their 20 overs.
For Islamabad, Mohammad Nawaz top-scored with a brisk 49 runs, while Sahibzada Farhan added 39. Other notable contributions included Kyle Mayers (22) and Jason Holder (14 not out). However, most of the batting lineup struggled, with Salman Ali Agha, Haider Ali, Naseem Shah, and others failing to make a big impact.
Quetta Gladiators’ bowlers delivered a balanced attack — Faheem Ashraf shone with figures of 4 wickets for 25 runs, while Abrar Ahmed, Khurram Shahzad, Kyle Jamieson, and Saud Shakeel took one wicket each.
In response, Quetta chased down the 158-run target with just one ball to spare, finishing at 160/8. Hassan Nawaz starred with a match-winning 64 not out, supported by Rilee Rossouw (27) and Finn Allen (20).
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, including Saud Shakeel (7), Mark Chapman (2), and Mohammad Wasim (16), Quetta held their nerve to seal the victory in the final over.
Islamabad United’s bowling effort was led by Naseem Shah and Salman Irshad, who claimed two wickets each. Jason Holder, Mohammad Nawaz, and Salman Ali Agha picked up one wicket apiece.
With this win, Quetta Gladiators climbed to the top of the points table with 11 points, while Islamabad struggled in the absence of their regular skipper, Shadab Khan, who missed the game due to a groin injury.
