
Rawalpindi: Explosive top-order batter Colin Munro of Islamabad United created history during the opening match of PSL Season 10, becoming the foreign player with the most half-centuries in the tournament’s history.
On Friday, Islamabad United defeated defending champions Lahore Qalandars by 8 wickets at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Chasing a target of 140 runs, United secured victory in the 18th over, with Munro playing a crucial role in the successful run chase.
The left-handed New Zealander smashed an unbeaten 59 runs off 42 balls, showcasing his attacking flair with 1 six and 7 boundaries. His performance not only powered his team to a winning start but also etched his name in the record books.
With this innings, Munro registered his 13th fifty in the history of the Pakistan Super League, surpassing Rilee Rossouw’s previous record of 12 fifties by a foreign player.
Other notable international players with multiple fifties in PSL history include Luke Ronchi, Jason Roy, and Shane Watson. However, the overall record for the most 50+ scores in PSL belongs to Peshawar Zalmi’s captain, Babar Azam, who has 35 half-centuries to his name.
