
Mumbai: South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has unexpectedly left the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and returned to his home country.
Representing Gujarat Titans, Rabada played two matches before suddenly departing for South Africa. The franchise had acquired him for a whopping ₹10.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
On Thursday, Gujarat Titans officially confirmed Rabada’s exit from the tournament. In a statement, the franchise said, “Rabada has left IPL 2025 due to personal reasons and has returned to South Africa. He played the first two matches for Gujarat Titans but had to leave to address an important personal matter.”
The team did not disclose any further details about his departure or a possible return.
Rabada made his IPL 2025 debut for Gujarat Titans against Punjab Kings, where he conceded 41 runs in 4 overs and picked up one wicket. In his second game against Mumbai Indians, he gave away 42 runs and took one wicket.
Since making his IPL debut in 2017, Rabada has played for Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings before joining Gujarat Titans. Across 82 IPL matches, he has claimed an impressive 119 wickets.
