England fast bowler Jofra Archer has registered an unwanted record by delivering the most expensive spell in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
The record-breaking moment came during the 18th season of the IPL in a high-scoring clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batters dominated Rajasthan Royals’ bowling attack, posting a massive total of 286/6 in 20 overs, making it the second-highest total in IPL history.
However, the match proved to be particularly forgettable for Rajasthan’s pacer Jofra Archer, who conceded 76 runs in his 4-over spell without taking a single wicket. This now stands as the most expensive spell in IPL history.
Before Archer, this unwanted record was held by Mohit Sharma of Gujarat Titans, who gave away 73 runs in 4 overs against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023.
Despite the tough challenge, Rajasthan Royals fought back in the chase, scoring 242/6 in 20 overs, but fell 44 runs short of the target.
