The New Zealand Cricket Board has announced its squad for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan, with Tom Latham leading the team.
Notably, Pakistan-born cricketer Muhammad Abbas has been included in the squad. Abbas was born in Pakistan and later moved to New Zealand with his family. He is the son of former first-class cricketer Azhar Abbas, who played in Pakistan and later represented Auckland and Wellington in domestic cricket. Azhar Abbas currently serves as an assistant coach for the Firebirds.
The squad features eight players from the team that played in the ICC Champions Trophy final. New Zealand has also included players like Adithya Ashok, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Jacob Duffy, and Mitchell Hay. Other members of the squad include Nick Kelly, Will O’Rourke, Ben Sears, Nathan Smith, and Will Young.
However, Mitchell Santner, Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, and Glenn Phillips will not be part of the squad due to their IPL commitments.
The three-match ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand will begin on March 29, with the remaining matches scheduled for April 2 and April 5.
