Following the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the resumption of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The tournament had been suspended last week due to escalating tensions and cross-border hostilities between the two nations. On May 9, the situation worsened after military action by India, followed by retaliatory strikes from Pakistan, prompting the BCCI to put the IPL on hold indefinitely.
A day before the suspension, a match in Dharamshala was abruptly halted, stadium lights were turned off, and several foreign players began arranging flights to return home amid safety concerns.
However, after the situation de-escalated and both nations agreed to a ceasefire, the BCCI has now confirmed that the remaining IPL matches will be held from May 17 to June 3 across six different cities in India.
The tournament will recommence with a high-profile clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders on May 17.
