
Quetta: In a landmark event for Pakistan, boxer Mohammad Waseem claimed victory at the first-ever International Boxing Championship held in Quetta, winning the WBA World Gold Bantamweight Title.
Organized under the banner of the World Boxing Association (WBA), the championship took place at Quetta Polo Club, marking a historic moment as South Asia hosted an international WBA boxing event for the first time.
The event featured eight thrilling bouts, including four title fights, with renowned international boxers participating. Victories were claimed by Jamie Gilley (UK), Sohail Iqbal (UK), Alex Dilmaghani (UK), Tariq Zaina (Morocco), and Jesus Saracho (Mexico) in their respective fights.
In the women’s category, Pakistani boxers Fatima Hazara and Malaika emerged victorious against local competitors, adding pride to the home crowd.
